Welcome from the Pastor

Battle Lake Baptist Church
Pastor Rick Williams and his wife Sandra

Greetings to you in the Lord! It is my privilege to welcome you to this web site on behalf of the members of Battle Lake Community Baptist Church, a friendly Christ centered church living in an unfriendly needy world.
What this means is that at Battle Lake Community Baptist, you'll find a congregation whose purpose is to:

  • Grow in the love of Christ
  • Reach out in the name of Christ
  • Affirm the body of Christ
  • Care in the nature of Christ
  • Exalt in the glory of Christ.
  • As a growing body of Christ that has been active in the Battle Lake area for more than twenty years, it would be our sincere pleasure to have you join us at Battle Lake Community Baptist Church sometime in the near future.

    Mission Statement

"He said unto them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." Mark 16:15

"To build up in Christ, to reach out in Christ"

Our mission is to teach the primacy of God and commitment to Him,
To establish and strengthen the Christian Life of each attendee through worship, instruction, fellowship and service,
To reach out to the community and welcome people without regard to race, color, denomination or national origin,
To participate fully and without reservation in church fellowship and work
To provide and support a local and world-wide missionary witness,
To help the needy with loving support, whatever their needs.

    How do I get there?

    Battle Lake Community Baptist Church
Hwy # 13, west past Hwy #771   1.6km. then first right, immediate left for 2.5 km. and church is on the left hand side!

    What are the Services like?

We gather together each Sunday morning to worship God as a family and to express to Him our love, our thanks, and our devotion. Come be our guest as we worship the Lord together!

When you arrive, you will be greeted at the door by one of our ushers and be given a church bulletin for that service. Please note that we have a BOLD version of our bulletin available for those with vision difficulties. If you need one, please ask. The ushers will have both.

    Where should I sit?

Feel free to take a seat anywhere in the sanctuary. There are no reserved seats for members of the congregation.

Our worship services blend the comfort and familiarity of traditional worship service with a mix of contemporary songs and styles through both instrumental and vocal music. Our worship leadership team is in tune with the pulse of the congregation, and truly speaks God's word through song. A variety of worship singers and soloists bring special selections as offerings of praise to our Lord.

We often have skits which relate to the message of that particular Sunday.

Ours is not a strictly regimented Worship Service. We encourage members, both adults and children alike, to participate if they feel a desire to do so. (Just let us know!)
At any given service, you might see little Jessica get up and play a song on the recorder she is learning, or be entertained by three little brothers on their guitars.

We do use an overhead powerpoint presentation during the service for both Bible verse and words to hymns. This is also helpful to those in the congregation with vision problems.
Bring along your Bible, or use one that is provided in the seat backs and read along with the message.
This is something we encourage - the Bible is our reference - it is our guide - refer to it often and make sure that what you are hearing, is what is written.
Hymnals are also in the seat backs.

The collection plate is passed during the service. You are under no obligation to participate - just let the plate go by, or give the usher a nod or jesture letting him or her know. Many of our members tithe once a month, so don't feel awkward about letting the plate go by!
If you do choose to tithe, there are envelopes behind the seats for that purpose.

    Communion Sunday
The last Sunday of the month we hold Communion.
Please join with us in taking part.
Communion is a memorial through which we reflect on the great sacrifice that Jesus made.
The ushers will pass around a loaf of bread.
Break off a small piece, and hold it until the plate has passed to the whole congregation, and the Pastor prays over it.
'This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.'
Then the grape juice is passed around, again, as before until:
'This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.'

"For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes" (1 Corinthians 11:26).
When we partake of the Lord's Supper, it is a proclamation and embracing of what Christ has done for us.

Visiting us?, don't worry - we won't single you out! Just sit back, enjoy the service, and take in God's word with us.

After the service we invite you to stay for coffee and goodies - you'll notice that we don't rush out the door at Battle Lake Baptist Church - so please feel free to join us for coffee and snacks!

    The World's MOST Popular Book!

There are tables at the front of the church with pamphlets and brochures from the various upcoming events. We encourage you to take whatever might be of interest to you!
We also have a supply of Bibles (The world's most popular book) on the back table - If you do not have a personal Bible, please feel free to help yourself to one!

    What do I wear?

No matter what your personal style, you’ll be comfortable at Battle Lake Community Baptist Church. If you prefer dressy or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you no matter when you visit. Sure, Sunday mornings are a time when many prefer to dress up a bit, but if jeans are more your style, you’ll be right at home with us. We even have a hitching rail, for folks who want to ride their horses to service!

Preschoolers and children learn while they play. We encourage hands on play so that children are learning through all their senses. Use your own judgment about how dressed up your child is while at church.
A morning time of preparation to go into God's house is always helpful and instills a sense of importance and reverence into our young children. Aim for neat and tidy, and you can't go wrong!

    Can I meet the Pastor?

The Pastor would love to meet you! Pastor Rick Williams and his wife, Sandra, are available in the foyer after worship every Sunday morning to personally greet our guests and they ask that you take a moment to stop and say hello. You'll probably meet Sandra before the service upon entry as she loves to greet everyone with a warm smile and a bubbly hello!
If you would like a more in-depth visit with the Pastor, please call the church office to set up a time for a personal visit or phone call. The church secretary is in the office Thursdays from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM 780-586-2719, or call any time and leave a message!

    Sunday School

Actual Sunday School classes - Adults, Youth and Children, are held before the regular service, at 10:00 a.m. (not during June, July, August & Sept.) Please feel free to join us as we cover many interesting topics of the Bible. This is a great time if you have questions about scripture you'd like to ask.

During the regular service we offer junior church for the little ones. This is to provide caregivers an opportunity to fully enjoy God's message with the comfort of knowing their child is well taken care of by qualified supervisors. Snacks, stories, videos and games all christian related will keep their little minds occupied. This is like 'Sunday School Lite'
Please note that we welcome your child to stay during the service. That is also an important learning tool for children, and they will learn to sing the hymns and enjoy the fellowship along with mom & dad, grandma & grandpa.

We encourage parents to sit with their children before or during the service.
Talkative children can be a distraction and can take away the enjoyment of worshiping in the house of the Lord from some of our parishioners. Please be considerate of others.
